Volunteer Positions Needed
October 22 - 28, 2007
This will be a 7 or 8 day event. Plus practice days.
You do not need to be a veteran to volunteer.
Only veterans can serve on veterans relations committee.
Read this page to find out what you would like to do. All
Chairperson openings are taken. The number preceding (+ Chair) is the number of
people needed in that group. You must be a veteran to serve in the Veterans
Relations group. A link to the application page can be found at the bottom of
this page.

Participation & Benefits
Volunteers will be asked to work approximately
24 hours (four, six hour shifts) during the week of the tournament.
Volunteers will each pay $50.00 to help defer the cost
of the official tournament uniform and will receive a volunteer package that
includes parking, food vouchers, and additional tickets.

VETERAN CONTROLLED BOARDS AS OF 9/25/06
TOTAL OF VETERANS NEEDED- 754
VETERANS RELATIONS - (12 + CHAIR)
Description: These volunteers will be stationed at the course entrances and in
high traffic areas to field questions about the various Veteran's organizations
involved and questions about Veterans in general. Members of this committee will
also be available to assist any Veterans attending the tournament. as needed. We
will ask these volunteers to where their volunteer uniform and their respective
service/overseas caps so that spectators can distinguish them.
Special Requirements: MUST BE A UNITED STATES VETERAN

SHOTLINK - (175 + CHAIR)
Description: Volunteers will be walking the course or at stationary locations
operating a trigger controlled laser and recording the information with the use
of a handheld device to determine all golf shot statistics. This information
will be used by the Golf Channel and on-site scoring systems to update all
player statistics.
Special Requirements: MUST BE KNOWLEDGEABLE OF GOLF AND ATTEND
TRAINING CLASSES A FEW WEEKS BEFORE THE CHAMPIONSHIP.
SCORING AREAS - (15+CHAIR)
Description: The Scoring Areas committee will help with maintaining the Scoring
Trailers, assisting with the scoring on the 9'h and 18'h holes, working with the
public scoreboard and helping with other Tournament scoring needs as they arise.
Special Requirements: NONE
TRANSPORTATION - (60 + CHAIR)
Description: Committee members receive, inventory and control the issuance of
courtesy cars. Prior to Tournament Week, drivers may be needed in order to
deploy courtesy vehicles for VIP pick-up. During tournament week, this committee
will be asked to meet players, officials and select VIPs at the airport and
assist them with their transportation needs. Following the event, this committee
will also handle collecting the cars and staging them for pick-up.
Special Requirements: MUST BE OVER 25 YEARS OF AGE AND HAVE A VALID
DRIVER'S LICENSE. WILL BE ASKED TO PROVIDE PHOTOCOPY OF DRIVER'S LICENSE. The
largest need in this committee falls at the beginning and end of Championship
week.
CONTESTANT TEE REFRESHMENT - (40+CHAIR)
Description: This committee will be responsible for distributing coolers of
refreshments to various areas of the golf course. This committee will also work
directly with each volunteer group to ensure that they are fully stocked with
beverages as well. The Contestant Tee Refreshment Committee will also work
directly with the vendor ensuring the stock of product on hand is sufficient
Special Requirements: WORK ON THE TEE REFRESHMENT COMMITTEE IS
VIGOROUS. SOME HEAVY LIFTING IS REQUIRED. GOOD PHYSICAL SHAPE IS MANDATORY FOR
PLACEMENT ON THIS COMMITTEE.
TECH-CHECK - (24 + CHAIR)
Description: Running Horse Championship Security will ask all event spectators
to leave their cellular telephones, pagers, coolers and other items not allowed
on the golf course with the Technology Check-In (Tech-Check) Committee upon
entering the event Members of the committee will trade a ticket for the item( s)
and hold the items while the spectators enjoy their day. At the end of the day,
the spectators will trade their tickets to the committee for their items as they
depart the site.
Special Requirements: NONE
CARTS - (25 + CHAIR)
Description: The Carts Committee is responsible for carts used on course
throughout the span of the Championship. These responsibilities include cart
distribution & collection to staff and volunteers throughout the course and cart
yard management on a daily basis. Golf cart credentials will be issued to each
individual authorized to use a cart during the week of the tournament Nightly
charging of carts is imperative. Volunteers will track damaged carts and work
with cart vendor on repairs.
Special Requirements: Very early shifts and late shifts involved.
OFFICE VOLUNTEERS - (20 + CHAIR)
Description: The Championship Office is the hub of information during the
Running Horse Championship. This committee will enable you to work as a part of
the administrative operations in the Championship Office prior to and during the
event. Throughout the next 14 months, the responsibilities will include
directing phone calls, assisting with mailings, fielding spectator, volunteer
and player questions and assisting the Championship staff. Office volunteers
will also assist all the other committees with ordering and purchasing necessary
items for the tournament
Special Requirements: VOLUNTEERS ON THIS COMMITTEE SHOULD BE AVAILABLE
TO WORK DURING THE WEEKDAYS, BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 8:00 A.M. AND 5:00 P.M.
